Some of the brightest smiles we see come the moment a child opens a brand-new book. On our latest reading day, children gathered in the shade with Mtoto Shujaa volunteers and a crate full of donated storybooks.
Volunteers read aloud, children took turns reading to each other, and every child had the chance to choose a book to explore. For many, it was their first time holding a storybook of their own choosing.
Reading days are part of our Education programme. Alongside school supplies, they help children build the confidence and curiosity they carry into every subject in the classroom.
